Carter, the son of Carter Epping and Teena Dyess Swift, was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 17, 1982.
Carter spent the last few years working with his family and friends in Chattanooga, Tennessee in the food service distribution business. He excelled in warehouse management and logistics coordination. Carter graduated high school from Glenwood School, attended Young Harris College and later Columbus State University where he held a seat in the Classical String Quartet.
Carter was a gifted musician, lyricist, and possessed exceptional wit and humor. He is best remembered for his creative nature, impromptu musical comedy and impersonations. Carter's guitar playing and humorous lyrics generated belly-aching laughter that had everyone wanting an encore. Regardless of his condition or circumstances, Carter was always accepting of others and positive by nature. Carter would always go the extra mile and gladly do so without complaint while sporting an infectious grin. He knew no stranger and respected people from all walks of life. Most importantly, Carter was a firm believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Carter was predeceased by his grandparents, George Parker and Ann Wade Swift and Gail Barton Dyess. He is survived by his loving parents, Teena and Carter Swift, his siblings Robert Barton Swift (Melissa), Sarah Swift Standish (Taylor) and Susanna Helen Swift, nieces Ella and Carson Swift, nephew Swift Standish, his grandfather Robert Earl Dyess, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will all remember him fondly. Carter also leaves behind his precious son, Preston Walker Swift, whom he loved dearly.
A private funeral will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to Calvary Chapel Renew Program (3415 Broad St., Chattanooga, TN 37409).
