Carolyn Rae Treadwell, a beacon of joy and music to all who knew her, completed her earthly sonata on December 9, 2024, surrounded by the serene comforts of her home in Phenix City, Alabama. Born on July 10, 1934, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late Myrom Ted Barnes and Inez Buntin DePasqualie, Carolyn's life was a rich tapestry of melody, service, and unwavering faith.
Carolyn, affectionately known by her friends and family as a faith-filled and generous soul, dedicated her life to the harmony of music and the joy it brought to others. Her career as a beloved piano teacher at Pinehurst Baptist Christian School spanned decades, touching the lives of countless students with the gift of music. Her passion for teaching was only matched by her commitment to her faith as a long-standing member and pianist at Beallwood Church of God.
For an incredible 74 years, Carolyn's fingers danced over piano keys in churches, filling the sanctuaries with beautiful music. But her musical talents did not end there; she also played various other instruments and had a voice that could uplift the heaviest of hearts. Singing was more than a hobby for Carolyn—it was a form of worship, a way to express her love for her Creator and to connect with her congregation.
Carolyn was the cherished widow of James Henry Treadwell, Jr., and she embraced her role as a stepmother with grace and love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and nurturing care through her step-children, David Treadwell, Debra Westbrook, Ronald Dean Treadwell, and Timothy Ray Treadwell. Each of them reflects a facet of Carolyn's boundless love and the lessons she imparted. Her goddaughter, Chiela Kelley, also survives her, a testament to the depth of Carolyn's ability to form profound bonds beyond her immediate family.
In the symphony of Carolyn's life, each note was played with intention, and each rest was filled with contemplation and peace. Her life was a reflection of her values—every action a demonstration of her generous spirit and her dedication to her faith. Those who had the privilege of knowing Carolyn will remember her for the quiet strength she carried and the light she shone into the lives of those around her.
A service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Beallwood Church of God.
