Obituary

Carolyn Sue Morris Passed away peacefully at her home the morning of May 26th 2023 with the love of her family surrounding her. Preceded in death, the love of her life James “Jimmy” Morris, her father Ronald Belk and step father James “Jim” Burton.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her children Stacey Thomas (Eric), Shawn Morris, bonus daughter Tabetha Turner(Charlie), her grandchildren Kali Dudley (Dalton), Kourtney Carter (Gage), Autumn Childs (Mike), Marissa Kaun (Andrew), Tanner Morris, Erica Arrington (Cody), Emily Lance (Jason), Erin Thomas (Katlyn), her precious great grandchildren Kayson, Jaxon, Emma, Avery, Charlie, Coleson, Raylie, Harper, JJ and Karoline. Her mother Vera Burton, sisters Rhonda Darlington (Rick) Leigh Ann Dailey, Lisa Burton, brothers Joe Thornton (Emet) Steve Spence, Frank Burton (Tiffany). Numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Carolyn left a legacy of unwavering love and humbleness. Born in Columbus Ga on November 12th 1955 she was raised in Columbus area with her sister Rhonda. Later at the tender age of 18 she fell in love and Married her Soul mate Jimmy. She briefly worked in the textile industry before becoming a mother of two children. A daughter, then a son. She spent the children’s early years as a homemaker. Once the children were school aged she reentered the work force. She spent the next 15 years at Phenix City Cable Company. She went on to work 9 years at Direct Service’s. Then Carolyn’s world would turn upside down when her husband fell ill. Carolyn Vigilantly stood by her husband’s side as he courageously battled and later succumbed to cancer. She never left his side to the moment he took his last breath. Carolyn went on to live in retirement spending her final days with those closest to her. Carolyn was a joyful Soul and would always greet you with a big bright smile and kind words. She will be missed by many. A visitation for family and friends will be 2pm to 3pm At Colonial Funeral Home 613 14th St, Phenix City Al. Immediately following will be a Memorial Service with Reverend Brad Mcdaniel officiating.
