Carolyn C. Garnett, passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on November 23rd, 1931, in Tallassee, Alabama. Mrs. Garnett's final days were spent surrounded by the love of her family in Pittsview, Alabama.
Funeral services for Mrs. Garnett will be held on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, at 11:00 AM ET at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Smiths Station, Alabama. The service will be officiated by Min. Billy Gaither, who will celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on her community and loved ones.
Mrs. Garnett was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her life was a testament to the power of family and the bonds that tie us together. She is survived by her loving children, Danny Garnett (Debbie), Tommy Garnett (Cheryl) and Scott Garnett (Debbie); her cherished six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Her life was also enriched by a special friendship with her brother in Christ, Hank Holland. Mrs. Garnett was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 67 years, Elmer Lee Garnett; her dear son, Britt Garnett; two grandchildren, Josh and Dylan; her parents, L. Heard and Vera (Hale) Godwin; and her siblings, Houston Godwin, Pete Hale, and Barbara French.
Mrs. Garnett's commitment to her community was unwavering. For over three decades, she was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, where she served as head of hospitality and was an integral part of the bereavement committee. Her gentle spirit and selfless dedication to serving others were evident in the countless lives she touched through her work with the church.
In her personal life, Mrs. Garnett was a homemaker extraordinaire, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She was an avid reader, a passionate gardener, and an enthusiastic bowler, often found at the lanes competing with her grandchildren. Her generosity and selflessness were the hallmarks of her character, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
