Carol Askew Obituary

Carol Ann Corbett Askew passed away peacefully at Peidmont Midtown in Columbus, GA on January 5th, 2024. She was 8 weeks from a kidney transplant and held on and fought until the very end. Carol never met a stranger and was often referred to as the nicest person anyone has ever met. She had lots of nicknames from the grandkids including: cutie, grammy, Carl, grandma, old lady, and even “that” at one time. Her husband, Herbert Phillip Askew, affectionally called her boo! She started dating Phillip at age 14 and married him the day after her 18th birthday, on his birthday, June 22, 1975. They were married for over 48 years! Carol loved to read, watching TV (especially the ID channel), and spending time with her family. Carol was proceeded in death by her father, John Mack Corbett SR and niece April Nicole Hattaway. She is survived by her husband, Herbert Phillip Askew of Phenix City, daughter Anna Askew (Larry), daughter Amie Cooper (Jason), son Matthew Askew, son Michael Askew, grandson Preston Anderson (Gracey), granddaughter Addie Anderson (Hunter), grandson son Landon Bullard, granddaughter Chloe Carol Bullard, grandson Jacob Anderson, and great granddaughter Ellie Hill. She is also survived by her mother Annie Corbett, brother Johnny Corbett (Elaine), sister Gale Stanley, plus sister in laws, brother in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 8 @ 3:30 EST at Church of the Highlands located at 2001 E Samford Auburn, AL 36830.
