CW2 John Warren Moore, 73, of Opelika, AL passed away on July 01, 2023 peacefully at his home.
Funeral services will be held 12:30pm ET on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with full military honors and Representative Debbie Wood officiating.
Mr. Moore was born on May 3, 1950 to Hugh Dorsey Moore Sr. and Virginia Hoard Moore in Griffin, Georgia. He graduated Summa cum Laude from both CVCC and Troy State University. Mr. Moore proudly served in the United States Army. He attended flight school in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He retired from the US Army after achieving a rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2, serving as a helicopter pilot. He later retired from the State of Alabama as a Veterans Representative where he assisted local veterans with benefits, employment, and legal assistance. He was a proud member of Disabled American Veterans.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Dorsey Sr. and Virginia Hoard Moore and three siblings, Hugh D. Moore Jr., Kathy Moore, and Virginia Paulette Prince and brother in law Wilbur "Pete" Prince.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Deborah McGarity Moore ; daughters, Tiffany (John) Tyson, Sandra Raybon; son, Shun Moore; special nephew, Brian Hearn; five grandchildren, Dakota Tyson (Cameron Hill), Alyson Tyson (Hunter Bowling), Carla Nolin, Camron Moore, and Erik Moore; two siblings, Keith (Debbie) Moore and Rebecca Moore Crews; a host of nieces, nephews and special canine companion, Maci.
