CMSgt (Ret) Carthel Givens

Chief Master Sergeant Carthel “Bill” Givens, 84, of Crestview, Florida, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023 following a period of declining health.

CMSGT Givens was born November 25, 1938 in Headland, Alabama to the late William and Myrtle Givens. He was raised in Phenix City, Alabama where most of his family still resides. CMSGT Givens was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during Vietnam and retired with over 30 years of service. Following retirement he spent his time on his property in Northwest Florida where he had built his own home and raised livestock. He was preceded in death by his son, Channing Givens; twin-brother, Carnel Givens; sister, Agnes Chadwick.

Surviving are his daughter, Stephanie Elder of Dawsonville, GA; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Givens of Pottstown, PA; brother, James Givens of Phenix City, AL; grandsons, Max Elder and Jacob Givens; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
