Bobby E. Sanders, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on September 11, 1945, in Phenix City, Alabama, Bobby's life was a testament to his unwavering love for his family and his dedication to his community.
Bobby spent 37 years of his career at Champion International, where his commitment to excellence in his role as Quality Control earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. After his time at Champion International, he continued to serve his community for 15 years as a bus driver for the Phenix City Board of Education, where his reliability and warm nature made him a favorite among staff and students alike.
Outside of work, Bobby was an avid supporter of UGA football, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. He found peace in the great outdoors, whether he was casting a line on a quiet lake, tracking game in the woods, or simply enjoying the company of loved ones on a family cruise. His love for spending time with his family and friends brought joy to his life and to those around him.
He was a loving figure in his family, a cornerstone of strength and affection. Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Frances Holley Sanders; his children, Tony Sanders and Pam Freeman (Keith); his siblings, Edna Clair Kidd (Randy) and Charley Frank Sanders (Delores). His legacy of love continues with his four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as the many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and gentle spirit.
Bobby was preceded in death by his stepson, Tommy Wayne Bailey, and his parents, Huey and Edna Sanders. His memory will be honored by all who knew him as a man who lived his life with purpose and kindness.
A visitation to celebrate Bobby's life will be held on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM EST at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. It will be a time for family and friends to share memories, laughter, and tears as they pay tribute to a man whose loving nature was the embodiment of the word itself.
Bobby E. Sanders will be dearly missed, but his warmth, his love for his family, and his passion for life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His was a life well-lived, and his impact on the world will not be forgotten.
