Barbara King Obituary

Barbara J. King, 82 of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away on December 19 at Parkwood Health Care. Memorial Services will be held on January 3, 2025 at 2 pm ET at Colonial Funeral Home.

Mrs. King was born on October 24, 1942 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late James Coley and Emma Agnes Simmons. Mrs. King will be remembered as a kind, honest, loving wife, friend, mother, and bonus mom. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She offered support, advice, and humor through good times and some of the hardest of times. She was always willing to share the wisdom that she gained through her life experiences. One example of how loving and kind she was can be recognized in her friendship with Ms. Bobbie Nielsen. She and Bobbie were the best of friends from the moment they met and checked in on each other daily for 58 years.

Mrs. King was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Wayne King, her son, Mark Moore, and her sister, Kay Stuckey. She is survived by her children Jerry Moore of Georgia, Marty Wells (Sharon) of Florida, Lisa Kahr (Barry) of Texas, Peggy Conway Timmons (Rick) of Washington, bonus daughters Liza Smith of South Carolina, Laurie Heim of North Carolina, and special daughter-in-law, Cara Wells of Florida. Grandchildren Coleton Wells, Chelsey Salyer, Coley Moore, Kayla Senick (Michael), Jessica Timmons, Kourtney Lanier (Kevin), DeShawn Smith, Victoria Fowler, Olivia Heim, Lukas Heim, Maxwell Heim, and Gabriel Heim. Great-Grandchildren Aubriana Rice, Zoey Rice, Skylar Norris, Marcus Senick, Jesse Salyer, Destiny Moore-Baker, Karlee Lanier, Kason Murphy, Jiavonna Lanier, Khalil Smith, Brennon Smith, Camdyn Smith, and Major Beasley. Great-Great-Grandchild John Moran. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members.
