Barbara Joyce (Free) Burgess

Barbara Joyce Burgess, 61 of  Columbus, Georgia passed away May 22, 2022 at Phenix City Healthcare in Phenix City, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 pm ET at Colonial Funeral Home with Rev. Brad McDaniel and Rev. Gene Garner, Jr. officiating. Interment following at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL. Visitation will be held Tuesday 6-8pm at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Burgess was born October 26, 1960 in Columbus, Georgia, to the late John Lacy Free and Willie Jane Wilson Higdon. She was active Cornerstone Ministries for many years and was a homemaker.

Barbara is survived by her husband, William Tom Burgess; two sons, Joey Milligan (Crystal) and Jason Burgess (Marianna); special friend Gina Milligan; grandchildren, Sabastian Milligan, William Milligan, Stormy Milligan, Aliyah Burgess, Sophia Burgess, Colton and Cerstin; great grandchildren, Remington, Kooper, Kannon, Waylon,  Rylee, Johna and Tanner;  a sister Sharon Spivey and a brother John Free. She is preceded in death by her stepfather Tira Eugene Higdon and brothers, James Free and Jerry Free.
