Andrew H. Ellis, 69, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Wednesday, September 28th at Columbus Hospice. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2022, at Rose Hill Church of Christ, 7479 Old Moon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31909 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Est. with Minister Nathan Diller officiating. Burial will follow service at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, Alabama. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Colonial Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Andrew was born October 24, 1952, in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Jack and Nell Ellis. He graduated from Central High School in the class of 1971. Following graduation, he served in the Air Force as an Electronic Warfare Systems Specialist. After his service to our country, he graduated from Georgia Southern receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. Then went on to receive his master's degree from Troy State. Andrew retired from the state of Alabama as a chemist in Auburn. He was a member of Rose Hill Church of Christ where he was the song leader. Andrew loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an intellectual man with great knowledge of history and would share that knowledge with anyone with a listening ear. His passion was yard sales and line dancing.
Andrew is survived by his wife Brenda Ellis of Phenix City, Alabama. Children; Brian Steele of Columbus, Georgia. Jeralyn (James) Knight of Odenville, Alabama. Marie (Brandon) Culpepper of Smith Station, Alabama. Tamara (Larry) Ellis of Jacksonville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his son Paul Ellis. Siblings; Jerry (Carmen) Ellis of Valdosta, Georgia. Carol (Charles) Tannenbaum of Springfield Oregon. Art (Martha) Ellis of Alpharetta, Georgia. Larry Ellis of Prattville, Alabama. Genevieve (Doug) Sylvia of Rydal, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brothers Lionel and David Ellis. Grandchildren; Summer, Justin, Timothy, Elise, Grace, Sebastian.
