Richie was born on August 1, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, to Richard Moore and Marie (Matthews) Knight. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
A proud graduate of Baker High School's class of 1962, Richie's vibrant spirit shone brightly as a cheerleader, a role that foreshadowed her lifelong enthusiasm for bringing joy to others. Her professional journey began with a 25-year tenure as a beloved beautician at Shaerers, where she not only styled hair but also nurtured friendships and bolstered the spirits of her clients with her warm conversation and empathetic nature. Later, Richie continued to serve her community at the Phenix City Library as a cataloger. Her meticulous attention to detail and love for literature made her an invaluable asset to the library team. Her colleagues and patrons alike admired Richie for her dedication and the quiet grace with which she approached every task.
Richie's interests painted a picture of a woman who cherished the simple pleasures in life. She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, finding joy and challenge in the twists and turns of each new puzzle. Her artistic side flourished through painting, where she expressed her inner world in strokes of color that captivated all who viewed her work. Richie was also renowned as a great cook, whose dishes were not just meals but expressions of love for her family and friends.
Family was the cornerstone of Richie's life. She is survived by her loving spouse, Warner Wilson; her two devoted sons, Rick Wilson and Mike Wilson (Teresa Cravens); her adoring grandchildren, Addison Wilson (Bobby) and Adam Wilson; and her cherished great-grandchild, Ivey Dukes. Richie's legacy of love and nurturing will undoubtedly live on through them. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Roxie Roberson (Jimmy), who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.
