Alice (Becky) Nagy died Sunday, July 22, 2018.
Becky was born November 18, 1938 in Columbus GA, the daughter of the late Eulas Deal and Elizabeth (Talley) Floyd.
She is survived by her daughter, Monica Renee Hingle (Rick), Columbus GA, her sister Patricia Floyd Diaz-Verson (Ocala Fl), her former brother-in-law Salvador Diaz Verson Jr (Sarasota Fl) and their children, Salvador Diaz-Verson III (Phenix City, AL) and Elizabeth Diaz-Verson Michael (Joseph) of Napa CA.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Kalman Mark Nagy (Columbus GA) and the father of her children, Kalman Nagy (NY).
Becky raised her children as a single parent in NYC in the 1970’s, an era before organized childcare, workplace considerations for parents and heated car seats.
While able to meet the demands of raising two children, a long commute to work, and daily interactions with New Yorker’s, it was the harsh winters she (and her children) disliked the most.
Although she raised her children in the Northeast, Becky made sure to instill Southern values in their upbringing. In addition to good manners, respect for others and the ability to use a butter knife for most home repairs (especially electrical). This also included a consistent longing for buttermilk biscuits, country ham, fresh tomatoes, and climate temperatures that were never preceded by a minus sign.
Most importantly, she passed along her life long passion for reading, animals, and the Florida Gulf shore.
A service will be held Friday, July 27 2018, 11:00am ET at St. Peter United Methodist Church, Columbus GA.
