Alice Inez Bush Butler, 92, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 at 12:00 PM ET at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station, Alabama with Donald Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET at Philadelphia Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Butler was born September 9, 1930 to the late, William Herbert Bush and Iva Ethel Bush Stanley in Smiths Station, Alabama. She worked at Swift Spinning Mill for many years as an administrative secretary. Mrs. Butler enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening, planting, and tilling. In her early years, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, helping raise her grandchildren, and going places. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Sports Ingram (surviving, Kimberly Winsor); two sisters, Kathleen Bush Askew and Eren Elizabeth Amerson; and one brother, William Herbert Bush, Jr.
Surviving are six children, William Sports (Jackie), James Sports (Judy); Tracey Sports (Ginger), George Sports (Julie), Bobby Sports (Michelle), and Ronnie Sports; sister, Katie Bush Minor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
