Adrian Fernando Ashford

Adrian Fernando Ashford was born to John Mitchell Ashford Jr. and Ollie Harris Ashford on February 22, 1976, in Lee County, Alabama. Adrian passed away on June 26, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. His life was marked by love for family, loyalty to friends, and a deep devotion to the people and places that shaped him.

Adrian was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Ollie Harris Ashford; his six siblings, Arlene Cooper, (Minister Bruce Cooper); John Mitchell Ashford III (Tamara); Cornelia Davis (Marvin); Octavia Ashford (David); Corey Ashford (Citreasa); and John Q. Ashford (Latonya). He also leaves behind a large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever treasure his memory. His family was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he gave them his love freely and without hesitation. 

He is preceded in death by his dear father, Rev. John Ashford Jr.

Adrian loved his family and friends deeply and had a special place in his heart for children. He treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, and they lovingly called him Uncle Pee Wee. His presence brought all his nieces and nephews comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging. He had a warm spirit and a way of making others feel valued and remembered.

As Adrian grew up he was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Motts, Alabama. He was baptized at an early age and served on the Junior Usher Board. 

A proud graduate of Smiths Station High School, Adrian was honored by being inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame for football, a recognition that reflected both his talent and his dedication. He continued his football journey in college, playing at the University of West Alabama and at Kentucky. Football remained an important part of his identity throughout his life. Many of his high school football friends and teammates knew him as “Big 2,” a nickname that spoke to the lasting bonds he built on and off the field.

Adrian was also a devoted Alabama football fan. His love for Alabama football was well known, and it became one of the many things that friends and family associated with his spirited personality. 

Those who knew Adrian will remember his strong family ties, his loyalty, and the way he embraced the people in his life with sincerity and affection.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, July 3 at 11AM EST. Friends and Family will gather for a Visitation before the service at 10AM EST. 

Though his earthly journey has ended, Adrian Fernando Ashford’s memory will remain a source of comfort and pride to his family and friends.
