Richard Mark Short

Richard Mark Short, 57, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Monday, November 4, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 6:00pm ET at Colonial Funeral Home with visitation following until 7:30pm.

Richard was born March 28, 1962 to Henry Carlton Short and Betty Mae Greathouse in Opelika, Alabama. He retired as a licensed funeral director from Rideouts Funeral Home in Prattville, Alabama. He was previously employed at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary and Vance Memorial Chapel. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge in Phenix City. Richard loved  hunting, fishing, cooking out, spending time with friends, taking long rides and was a history buff. He was known for his great sense of humor and always made people laugh. 

Surviving are his 3 sisters, Betty Jean Short Hodge (Warner Hodge), Annette Owens and Carlene Smith; brother, Henry Dallas Short; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
