Rev. Emmett D. Henry, Sr. was born on June 10, 1951 to the late Rosa Henry Peppers in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Rev. Henry transitioned from his life on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Emmett gave his life to Christ at an early age. After coming out of High School, he enlisted in the United States Army which he served proudly for 22 years. Upon retiring from the military he accepted his calling into the ministry and pastored for many years. He received his Associate's Degree in Management from Columbus Technical College. He had a passion for loving and helping others. He was a musician for many years and taught many how to play the piano.
He was married to Jeannie for 38 years.
Who preceded in his death his brother, Vance Henry; mother, Rosa Henry Peppers and step father Harold Peppers.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeannie Henry; three sons, Emmett (Papal) Henry, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Edwin (Pauline) Henry of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Demetrius (Gerrica) Henry of Columbus, GA; one brother, Tyrone Davis of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters, Peggy Golden of Rural Hall, NC, Colleen (Lorenzo) Hayward of Orlando, FL, Lee Greta Singleton of Aurora, CO, Sharon (Melvin) Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; three grand daughters Keke of AL, Aaliyah and Tori Henry of Las Vegas, NV; two God-grand daughters, Arzoria and Armani Sumbry of Phenix City, AL; three God daughters, Carla Fulton of Winston-Salem, NC, Audrey Thomas of Columbus, GA and Melina Torres of Columbus, GA; four great grand daughters; with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 beginning at 12:00pm EST at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Smiths Station, AL. The family will receive friends Friday, July 12, 2019 from 11:00am to 5:00pm EST at Colonial Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. Interment will be held Monday, July 14, 2019 at 10:00am EST at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with full military honors.
