Martha Jean Osborn

Martha Jean Osborn, 84, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Jack Hughston Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:00am ET at Colonial Funeral Home with Rev. Hank Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Colonial Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00pm ET.

Mrs. Osborn was born on September 27, 1935 in Henry County, Alabama, daughter of the late Robert Burkett and Lula Ray Tice Burkett. Mrs. Osborn was the eldest of 12 children. Other than her parents, Mrs. Osborn was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Osborn; her son, Hezzy (Pete) Peterson; a daughter, Barbara Vogt; 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Mrs. Osborn retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 35 years. Mrs. Osborn’s main focus was her love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, fishing, camping, gardening and shopping. She attended Glenn Anthony Baptist Church and loved her church family very much.

She is survived by a daughter, Dianne Beaty (Ernie) of Hagerstown, Indiana; two sons, Paul Peterson (Donna) of Columbus, GA; Jeff Peterson (Lynn) of Phenix City, AL; 3 sisters and 1 brother; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her much-beloved little dog, Peanut.
