Lewis Owen Veasey, 79, a lifelong resident of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Saturday evening at Canterbury Nursing Facility.

Funeral Services with military honors will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM EST at Colonial Funeral Home's Chapel with Brother Wayne Tice officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

Mr. Veasey was born April 7, 1938 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Lon and Pennie Owens Veasey. He was a United States Air Force veteran ,retired firefighter from the Phenix City Fire Department, and member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. Other than his parents Mr. Veasey was preceded in death by,  a sister, Sara Kaliff, a brother, Henry J. "Bubba" Veasey, and a son, David Randall Veasey.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Louise Griffith Veasey of Phenix City, Alabama, daughter, Becky Veasey Crowder (James) of Fortson, Georgia, sister, Virginia VanWinkle (Sherman) of Sparta, Tennessee, brother, Jimmie R. Veasey (Dee) of Spanish Fort, Alabama, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
