Joel Austin Dudley

 Joel Austin Dudley passed away Monday, September 17, 2018. A Graveside service will be held Friday September 21, 2018 at 11:00 am ET at Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm ET at Colonial Funeral Home. 

Mr. Dudley was born July 2, 1941 to Jeff Dudley and Kate Lane Dudley in Phenix City, AL. After graduation from Central High School in 1959, Joel joined the Air Force and serviced in Bellefontaine, OH for six years where he his met his wife, Sally.

Upon his return to Phenix City, Joel began a very successful career in banking at First Federal Savings & Loan in Columbus. He was hired as a "computer guy" and rose through the ranks to become president of that organization.

In 1992, he began his second career as president of Thomaston Federal Mortgage in Columbus where he worked until his retirement in 2003.
The remainder of his days were spent as a hard working "country gentleman/farmer/cattle man/rancher at his home in "Dixie". Some of his most enjoyable times were spent as a ranking member of the "Breakfast Club", and of course, more time with his family was priceless to him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Dudley, parents, Jeff & Kate Dudley, brother, Jack Dudley, grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Austin Dudley, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Lane.

Surviving are sons, Jeffery Austin Dudley, Joel Scott Dudley of Phenix City, AL, Jack Dustin Dudley of Phenix City, AL, daughters, Jody Griffin, Mrs. Brenda (Eric) Aamodt, sister, Mrs. Sandra (Bart) Traywick of Pooler, GA, aunt & uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Sanders of Opelika, AL, aunt, Mrs. Myrtle Rivais of Clearwater, FL, grandchildren, Mrs. Jessica (Mark) Faulk, Tyler Dudley and Rachel Dudley.
