Jeffrey Alan Abels, 56, of Phenix City, Alabama died Saturday, July 1,2017 at Gentiva Hospice at Franciscan Woods.

Jeffrey was born November 8, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska to Ronald A. and Karen Johnston Abels. He was a automotive mechanic for Diversified mechanics in Columbus, Georgia, and was a welder in metal fabrication having been involved in construction of The Infantry Museum at Fort Benning, Georgia.Jeffrey was a motorcycle enthusiast  enjoying rebuilding, repairing, and racing them, especially  Triumph motorcycles.

Surviving are his mother, Karen Lee Johnston of Phenix City, Alabama, father, Ronald Arthur Abels of Ballwin, Missouri, a sister, Kammy Oliver of Phenix City, Alabma,a brother, Troy Abels of Phenix City, Alabama, and two nephews, Connor and Lathen.

A memorial service for Jeffrey will be held at a later date.
