Fred Thomas Aldrich

Fred Thomas Aldrich, 79, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10:00am EST at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2:00-4:00pm EST at Colonial Funeral Home.

Fred was born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia on March 22, 1940 to C.A Welch and Mary Bland. He served as a member of the United States Marine Corp before going on to work as truck driver since 1955. Fred dabbled in woodworking, enjoyed cigarettes, motorcycle racing and loved his grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving wife, Rebecca Brown Aldrich; 2 sons, David Aldrich of Pelham, Alabama and Scott Smith of Phenix City, Alabama; sister; brother, Charles Welch; 4 grandchildren, Ella Ryan Aldrich, David Duncan Aldrich, Kaleb Truman Smith and Shelby Rae Smith.
