Dorothy Wanda Carver Knight Sorrells, 96 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 1:30 PM EST at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Pastor Tommy Hart officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 PM at Colonial Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1921 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Curtis and Ethel Horton Carver. She was a homemaker, and loved writing poetry having had many poems published.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jackie Lane Sorrells, and Elbert Wesley Knight, Jr., a daughter, Wanda Knight Dismukes, a granddaughter, Peggy Dismukes, a brother, James Carver, and a sister, Hilda Sorrells.
Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Knight Shine of Hamilton, Georgia, a son, David Sorrells of Salem, Alabama, a sister, Sara Davidson of Columbus, Georgia, 11 grandchildren, Frankie Shine, Susan Lynch, Kimberly Rowan, Kandis Sorrells, Cindy Smith, Brian Sorrells, Todd Sorrells, Diane Dismukes, Vickie Meadows, Randy Knight, and Elbert Wesley Knight III, 20 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
