Conrad Joseph Thompson, Sr, 87 of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at one of his daughters homes.

A Funeral service will be held Friday, September 07, 2018 beginning at 4:00 PM ET at Colonial Funeral Home with his brother Rev. Danny Thompson and Rev. Danny Ryals officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 3:00 PM ET and immediately following the service. A private interment will be held at Girard Cemetery in Phenix City, Alabama.

Mr. Thompson was born July 18, 1931 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late, Charlie Thompson and Gladys Watford. He attended Central High School, where he played football for the Central Red Devils. He is well known around these parts as the Peanut Man. Mr. Thompson and his family supplied peanuts and candied apples at the local football games for many years in Columbus and Phenix City. It all started on Kinfolks Corner in Columbus, Georgia where he and his mother ran Thompson and Son Peanut Company. Mr. Thompson also travelled with Harold Cohn & Associates Auction Company for a number of years. He owned 431 Wrecker Service and CT Auction Company. Mr. Thompson was a member of St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wives, Sandra Marie Thompson and Nell Thompson, brother, Charlie Thompson and sister, Evelyn Lindsey.

He is survived by 7 children, Conrad Thompson, Jr., Belinda Rushing, Tammy Ziss and her husband Ken, Jeanie Stroud, Tommy Thompson, Connie Woodham and her husband Kenny and Lisa Thompson, 8 grandchildren, Eric Thompson, Adam Hatcher (Kristi), Sandra Howard, Rick Bowers, Jr. (Lori), Stephanie Bowers, Aaron Stroud, Terra Thompson and Ashley Gay (Chris), 8 great-grandchildren, Ricky Bobby Bowers, Aubrey Bowers, Cassie Gay, Grayson Gay, Bryan Gay, Juliana Howard, Maddie Smallwood and Mason Hatcher, numerous other family members and many friends.
