Billie Marie (Lake) McGarity

Mrs. Billie Marie McGarity, 87, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Arbor Springs Health Facility in Opelika, Alabama.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Philadelphia Baptist Church beginning at 12:00 PM EDST with Rev. Skip Speed officiating, Serving as pallbearers will be, Koty Tyson, John Tyson, Jacob Gentry, Anthony Self, Kambridge Wainscott, and Shun Moore. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGarity was born July 5, 1930 in Daviston, Alabama to the late Claude and Margaret Bence Lake, she retired from Eagle & Phenix Mills and Fieldcrest Mills with over 36 years combined years of service, member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and cake decorating. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Kent McGarity, 4 brothers, Durwood, Ralph, Aubrey, and Howard Lake, a sister Mildred Self, a son, Kenneth J. McGarity, and a daughter, Pamela K. McGarity.

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah and husband John Moore, 2 sons, Brent and wife Donna McGarity, and Tim and wife Donna McGarity, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren.
