I was shocked and saddened when I opened the paper and read of Betty Lou's passing. She was a wonderful lady and a great public servant on my staff. Was she ill? I thought of her often as she always organized our retired staff luncheon. I am very sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Bill Goodling

My prayers and condolences to Betty Lou's family and friends. I had the privilege of working with Betty Lou as she served the people of York County, Pennsylvania and Congressman Goodling until her retirement in 2001. Every time I pass the South George Street Federal Building in York, PA, I will continue to remember her ability to listen and help the people in the community any way that she could. Her kindness and love for her family was always evident. Prayers for comfort and peace are being lifted today.

As a 15 year old, I was a student in Mrs. Tarasovic's Wendy Ward Charm School. I have never forgotten her and think of her every time I bend from the knees instead of the waist, or get into a car the "lady-like way"! She made quite an impact on many young ladies in the 1960's in York, PA.
