Abdul Shakoor Hassan a.k.a. Walter Bernard Harrington,66 of Columbus, Georgia passed away Friday, February 8, 2019.
Abdul was born June 23, 1952 in Fort Benning, Georgia to the late Sgt. Walter Lee Harrington and Hester L. Harrington. Abdul was a 1970 graduate of Carver High School, while attending high school he participated in track and field, he was a trombone player in the band and a member of the Esquire Social Club. Upon graduation from high school Abdul attended Florida A&M University majoring in Business Administration. He later pursued a career in the Insurance Industry; he also worked as a Physical Therapist Assistance and as Meat Processor. Abdul childhood memories where spent with many summers on his grandparent’s farm in Louisville, Mississippi. He developed a love for fishing and horses and a delight for cowboy movies. He was a devoted Muslim worshiper at Masjid An-nur mosque. Abdul is preceded in death by his father, Sgt. Walter Lee Harrington, Grandparents Willie(Carrie) Macon, Sister in-law Mattie Davis Harrington.
He is survived by his loving mother Hester L. Macon Harrington, his son Jamaal Farley, brothers Billy(Luci) Harrington and Terry Harrington; sister, Veronica Macon, two nephews Shelton Davis and Alfonte Harrington and many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
