Phenix City, Alabama- James Timothy Johnson, 100, of Phenix City, Alabama died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Phenix City Health Care. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Summerville United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Brady Baird officiating, the family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born in Pike County, Alabama to the late Mattie (Tillery) and Judge L. Johnson. The Johnson family moved to Phenix City in 1922. He attended Central High School, married in 1941 to the former Lorene A. Reed, was an organizer, charter member, and deacon of Crawford Road Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Army. His military travels included many stateside assignments as well as foreign travel to Puerto Rico, France, Korea, Japan, Alaska, and Germany, retiring in 1969 to Denison, Texas, the home of his second wife, Rosabeth Brannon Johnson. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas F&AM, Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Texas, Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas, Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, proud to be an endowed member of all five bodies, life spomsor of Knights Templar Eye Foundation. He attended Trinity Methodist Church in Denison where he taught Sunday School for 27 years and conducted Children’s Church. Mr. Johnson returned to Phenix City in 2003 and was a member of Summerville United Methodist Church. Surviving are 2 sisters, Louise Johnson Baker, and Jewel Johnson Davis both of Phenix City, daughter, Rebecca Blackmon of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, 3 grandchildren, Bruce Blackmon, Lisa Kropenick, Beth Myers, 4 great grandchildren, Blake Blackmon, Rebecca Myers, Taylor and Parker Kropenick., 2 nieces, Penny Cook (Bobby), and Pat Ellerman (Dan)
