Floyd Faircloth, 92 of Phenix City, AL passed away February 4, 2018. Funeral services with full military honors will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Rev. Brooks Ward, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
Floyd was born February 16, 1925 in Ariton, AL to James Floyd Faircloth and Miranda Renfroe Faircloth.
In October , 1943 he joined the Navy and served for 4 years as a Radioman. He returned to Alabama and farmed for 2 years before joining the Army in July, 1949 as a High Speed Radio Operator. In July 1968 he retired from the Army as an NCOIC at a Radio Relay Station near Ft. Leavenworth, KS. From 1968 to 1974 he worked as a Maintenance Repairman and Air Condition Repairman in the Kansas City, KS area. In 1974 he moved his family to Phenix City, AL where he worked for the Phenix City Police Department at the City Jail until he retired.
Floyd was an avid fisherman, loved to garden and a lifelong Alabama Foot ball fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, nine sisters, four brothers and his oldest son Kenneth Floyd Faircloth. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Sarah Katherine Culpepper Faircloth. Son, Jim Faircloth (Patricia) Phenix City, AL., daughter, Patsy Faircloth Weaver (Jimmy) Phenix City, AL, daughter, Glenda Faircloth Wilson (Stephen), Cataula, GA, son Randy Faircloth (April) Lawrence, KS, son Bill Faircloth (Kathy) Opelika, AL, daughter Carol Faircloth Ward (Tim) Phenix City, AL, daughter Kathy Faircloth Powell (John) Phenix City, AL, daughter Nancey Faircloth McMahon (Sonny) Smiths, AL. Twenty-Two grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildern.
