Curtis Melvin Wilks, 90, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM EDST at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory’s Chapel with Pastor Dean Knipe officiating. Mr. Wilks nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Interment will be 1:30 EDST/12:30 CDST at Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in Josie, Alabama. Mr. Wilks was born July 16, 1927 in Banks, Alabama to the late Thomas Frank Wilks and Thetie Harden Wilks. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and retired as an auditor from Fieldcrest Mills. Surviving are his sons, Darryl Wilks of Smiths Station, Alabama, and Tom (Susanne) Wilks of Fortson, Georgia, 3 brothers, Robert (Leola) Wilks of Phenix City, ALabama, Sam (Amy) Wilks of Temple, Georgia, and Virgil (Jean) Wilks of Brundidge, Alabama, 3 sisters, Mable Carter of Brundidge, Alabama, Ann Slaughter of Phenix City, Alabama, and Kathy (Vernal) Jacob of Douglasville, Georgia, 4 grandchildren, Kelsey Wilks, Kyndal Langley, Michael Chase Wilks, and Thomas Colt Wilks, 4 great grandchildren, a sister in law, Melia Wilks of Crawford, Alabama, several nieces and nephews.
